First Monday event: Noon to 1 p.m. Gerda Weissmann’s Academy Award and Emmy winning documentary "The Holocaust: One Survivor Remembers" will be shown. In January, 1945, Gerda was among 4000 women who were forced on a 350 mile "Death March". Gerda was one of less than 120 survivors of this march. The hike will connect the newly opened Karl Stirner Arts Trail in downtown Easton, the Delaware Canal towpath trail, and finish via the Lehigh Canal trail to Hugh Moore Park. Water, a snack and lunch would be advisible. Nasty weather will cancel the hike. Meet at the National Canal Museum parking lot, Hugh Moore Park. Peace Candle was put up on
Wednesday and is ready
to be lit at a celebration next
weekend, on Black Friday
evening.


The Easton Peace Candle Lighting is next weekend, on Black Friday, November 23, from 5 to 9 p.m. on the Centre Square. Performances by the Easton Area High School Brass Ensemble, EAHS Chamber Singer & String Ensemble, Easton Municipal Band, Uptown String Band, and Tuba Christmas. Photos with the real Santa A. Claus, ice sculpting competition, horse drawn carriage rides, crafters, kids rides and attractions, and more. Candle lighting ceremony takes place at 8 p.m.--who gets to flip the switch and light the largest non-wax candle in North America? The "Imperial Illuminator".
