First Monday Program to Feature Documentary Film Screening

A documentary highlighting one of the last large gatherings of World War II veterans, "Marching Once More", will be featured this coming Monday, December 2 at the Easton Area Community Center (EACC), 901 Washington St., during the center's monthly First Monday program from noon to 1 p.m.

Local historian Morris Metz will introduce the film, which follows more than 100 survivors of the Battle of the Bulge on their 2004 return to Belgium and Luxembourg to reflect on the six-week battle that claimed 19,000 American lives. The documentary also captures the veterans' uncertainty as to anyone would remember or care about the events that occurred 60 years earlier.

To their surprise, the people of Belgium and Luxembourg treated them like celebrities: a king presented medals, a royal family laid wreaths in honor of the fallen, and crowds clamored for autographs and to, perhaps for the last time, thank their liberators.

The public is invited. There is no charge for admission.

For more information, call the EACC at 610-253-8271.
