Teens are invited to strut their stuff at an upcoming dance competition at the Boys & Girls Club’s Easton Teen Center, located at 1101 Northampton St. set for Saturday, January 18 from noon to 5 p.m.
"So You Think You Can Dance?!" is the brainchild of local teen and Keystone Leadership club member, Janajah Lawson, 16, who created the dance competition not only for young people to compete but also to have fun and hopefully form new friendships with like-minded teens through the dance event, said club director Dean Young.
The competition is open to all teens 13 to 18 years of age. To participate, entrants must pre-register at either the Teen Center or at the Boys & Girls Club of Easton, 210 Jones Houston Way, and pay a $2 performers' fee. The deadline for sign-ups is Saturday, January 11.
Admission for those that would like to watch the competition is $3 per person on the day of the event.
"We’re welcoming everyone from everywhere to come and join us for a day of fun and excitement," Lawson said. "Come down and show off your dancing skills and creativity. Not only will you be competing against your fellow citizens, but other Boys & Girls Clubs from other states in the northeast region are invited."
