Input on Stray Animal Issues Sought by County

A public meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 22 at 7 p.m. at the Charles Chrin Community Center, 4100 Green Pond Road in Palmer Township to gather input from the public on the issue of how to better manage the problems being encountered by municipalities and their police departments in handling stray dogs and cats.

A lack of an animal shelter in the county that will regularly accept stray animals from police departments, the State Dog Warden, and members of the public has led to a growing problem in recent years, various municipal and county officials have recently said.

The meeting will include an overview of two reports prepared for Northampton County on this issue, and include possible solutions to alleviate the situation. The reports are also available for review at www.northamptoncounty.org, under "Top Clicks."

The public will be encouraged to ask questions and provide input to help the county municipalities, and other stakeholders find a solution to this problem during the meeting.

For more information contact Lori Sywensky, Community Development Administrator at 610-559-3200, or email her.
