Rummage Sales Offer Bargains, Support Community Efforts

Even if you're not already a confirmed rummage sale devotee, with a continuing tough economy, you're probably always looking for a bargain and ways to save some cash.

Rummage sales not only achieve both objectives, proceeds from most sales also support local community groups, including scouting groups and athletic associations, not just religious activities.

The donation of gently used items also goes a way towards keeping perfectly good property from ending up in landfills, too.

Rummage sales are their own particular phenomenon though, and a lot of people have never attended one. Perhaps it's a matter of impression--that only a certain "type" of people shop the sales, or that they're for blue-haired little old ladies.

But it's more likely that this well-kept secret just hasn't gotten out. After all, there's no one place that rummage sales are advertised. Often the extent of it is a small roadside sign or a brief announcement in a church bulletin or on the organization announcement board.

However, those in the know seek them out, and for very good reason: they offer deals you'll just never see anywhere else. And all you need is a little time and an eye for a bargain.

We've compiled a list of local sales, with a few known good ones outside of the immediate Easton area, but well within easy reach too.

So, with everything from clothing (often designer and brand names) for yourself and the kids, to household items to tools to unique vintage goods up for grabs for pennies on the dollar--and that's before the bag sales!--what are you waiting for? Often, there's even some delicious baked goods and lunch up for grabs too.

What more could you ask for? See you at the sales!
