Civil War "Recruitment": 9:30 a.m. to noon. Members of the 153rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Regiment will be “recruiting” soldiers for the Northampton County regiment to fight in the Union Army. Commorating the 150th anniversary of the 153rd’s departure from Easton on Sept. 25, 1862, there will be a special program in honor of “Northampton’s Own.” At 12:15 there will be a gathering of the troops, Mrs. Lincoln will address the troops, the ladies of Easton will present a unit flag, and there will be a blessing by the Chaplain. First Annual Perennial and House Plant Exchange: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring a clearly labelled plant or plants to exchange for something new. Passport to History Day - Bachmann Publick House and Nicholas House: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Part of a county-wide program to acquaint the public with the rich historical resources of Northampton County. The Bachmann is one of the oldest buildings and the only surviving colonial-era court room in Easton. The Nicholas House reconstructs the life of a family of nine in the early 1800s. Safe Harbor Easton Regatta: Noon to 3 p.m. Free picnic lunch at noon and an exciting boat race down Bushkill Creek at 1 p.m. The Regatta is Safe Harbor Easton’s largest fundraiser of the year and benefits the emergency homeless shelter, the daytime meal program and the Recovery Center for men and women recovering from addiction.
