Three local community organizations have teamed up to offer career workshops for local teens next Saturday, October 27.
Resume building, interview skills and workplace etiquette will be covered during the sessions, which run from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. The workshop sessions will conclude with a networking mixer where attendees will be able to put the skills they have learned into action.
The event will take place at the Easton Teen Center, located at 1101 Northampton St., in Easton's West Ward and is jointly sponsored by the Boys & Girls Club of Easton CareerLaunch Program, the Junior League of the Lehigh Valley and Greater Shiloh Church.
“It is been said that luck occurs when opportunity meets preparedness. The Junior League effort aims to assist area teens in being adequately prepared for life’s opportunities,” said Rosalind Lucien, community impact chair for the Junior League of the Lehigh Valley.
During the afternoon session at 1:30 p.m., Pastor Philip Davis of the Greater Shiloh Church will present a workshop for parents and students who are interested in learning about entrepreneurship opportunities and the proposed new free Business and Enterprise Academy, an alternative charter high school located in West Easton.
“Working together with other organizations such as the Junior League of the Lehigh Valley enables teens in the local area to get connected with other resources that will benefit & prepare them as they gear up for either college and/or the working world.” says Tina Dowling-Hackett, B&GCE program director.
Pizza and refreshments will be offered for the first 50 to register on a first-come-first-served basis.
Pre-registration is required for this free workshop event.
Registration forms are available at the Boys & Girls Club of Easton, 210 Jones Houston Way and at the Easton Teen Center, 1101 Northampton St.
To register by phone or for more information, call Tina Dowling-Hackett at 610-703-8575 or B&GCE Director Dean Young on 484-239-2075.
