Man Shot in South Side Easton Early Monday Morning

A man was shot near his home in the 200 block of East Wilkes-Barre Street early Monday morning and police are searching for two gunmen, one of who was reportedly masked at the time of the attack.

Police say they were called to the scene for reports of shots fired, and found the man in his car suffering from a gunshot wound upon arrival.

The unidentified 37-year-old was taken to a local hospital. He is expected to survive, police indicated.

The wounded man reportedly told police he was approached by two black men who attempted to rob him. When he fought back against one of the suspects, he was shot.

The suspects then fled in an unknown direction.

Police say the two assailants were described by the victim as being a dark-complexioned black male, standing about 5-foot-8-inches tall, with a slim build and "bushy" hair, and a tall, thin black male wearing a mask.

Police said they are also searching for two vehicles that may be connected to the shooting.

The first is a black BMW with tinted windows, blue-colored headlights and silver around the rim area. The second vehicle being sought is orange.

Anyone with information about the shooting incident is asked to call Inspector Daniel Reagan at 610-250-6796 or the Easton Police tip line at 610-250-6635.

Callers may remain anonymous.
