First Monday Film Screening - Ken Burns' "The Statue of Liberty": Noon to 1 p.m. Sculptor Frederic Auguste Bartholdi was commissioned to design a sculpture with the year 1876 in mind for completion to commemorate the centennial of the American Declaration of Independence. A joint effort between America and France, it was agreed upon that the American people were to build the pedestal, and the French people were responsible for the statue and its assembly here in the United States. However, lack of funds was a problem on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. This film was nominated for the Academy Award and the Emmy The public is invited. There is no charge for admission. Enriching Lives Through Art show begins: Hand crafted woodwork, photographs, pencil sketches and paintings by Peter Boccadoro, Rick Bryant, Erik Chuss, Kailey Goodnuff, Clarissa Louw, and Christina Wallitsch.
