State to Crack Down on Aggressive Driving
PennDOT today announced it will be stepping up aggressive-driving enforcement activities as part of a statewide initiative from March 18 to April 28.
Law enforcement activities will be conducted on Wednesday, March 20 on roadways throughout Lehigh and Northampton counties, a media release from the state transportation agency said. The enforcement will target motorists exhibiting aggressive-driving behaviors, such as running red lights, speeding, and tailgating.
The announcement noted that distracted drivers can exhibit aggressive-driving behaviors.
PennDOT data for Lehigh and Northampton counties shows that in 2011, 30 people were killed in crashes involving aggressive driving, PennDOT added in the press release.
