Lectures by Russian activist and author Masha Gessen: 12:15 and 4:15 p.m. Masha Gessen, a Russian journalist/activist who's written an unauthorized biography of Vladamir Putin and who also blogs for the New York Times will give two free lectures. The first, at 12:15 p.m., will focus on Gessen's book The Man Without a Face, described as a "chilling account of how a low-level, small-minded KGB operative ascended to the Russian presidency and, in an astonishingly short time, destroyed years of progress." “The Anatomy of a Crackdown: The Laws, Slogans, and Practices of the New Russia” is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. First lecture is in the Gendebien Room of Skillman Library, the second is in room 104 of the Kirby Hall of Civil Rights, both at Lafayette College. www.lafayette.edu

 Compagnie Marie Chouinard performance: 8 p.m. Lafayette celebrates the 100th anniversary of the groundbreaking Paris premiere of Vaslav Nijinsky's dance "The Rite of Spring," with Igor Stravinsky's revolutionary music. The program will also include 24 Preludes, a dance using the music of Chopin. Tickets are $20 per person.
