This Week in Easton, April 1 to 4

No fooling, it's finally really spring, and there are all sorts of things to enjoy in the city (and the 'burbs too) this week...


Monday, April 1

First Monday event: Noon to 1 p.m. Gerda Weissmann’s Academy Award and Emmy winning documentary "The Holocaust: One Survivor Remembers" will be shown. In January, 1945, Gerda was among 4000 women who were forced on a 350 mile "Death March". Gerda was one of less than 120 survivors of this march. When liberated in May 1945, 21 year old Gerda weighed 68 pounds. In 1946 Gerda married and moved to the United States. In the ensuing years Gerda wrote many books: "All But My Life", "The Hours After: Letters of Love and Longing in Wars Aftermath", "One Survivor Remembers","Promises of a New Spring: The Holocaust and Renewal" and others. Don’t miss this riveting documentary that you will never forget. Bring your box of tissues. Note there are some graphic scenes. The public is invited. There is no charge for admission. AARP Driver Safety Course: 1 to 5 p.m. For first-time participants. To receive a certificate of completion, participants must also attend a second session on Wednesday, April 3 from 1 to 5 p.m. Cost is $12 for members, $14 for non-members. "Hauntingly Easton!" opening reception: 6 to 8 p.m. A series of watercolors capturing the spirits of some of Easton's famous ghosts by local artist, Preston Hindmarch.
